One Million Trees in One Day Project

The One Million Trees Project planting day has been postponed to Friday 26th April. If you are interested in taking part, please contact Danielle Begley on 028 30313100.

One Million Trees in One Day is a charity, not-for-profit, cross-border, community and environmental initiative which will plant a million young native trees at many different sites across both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in 24 hours. Newry and Mourne have been successful in our application to take part and will receive 5000 free, native trees to plant at four of our Council owned sites. Sites selected include Heather Park, Carnagat, Kilmorey Park and Flagstaff.

Planting will begin at 12 noon on Friday 22nd March and finish at 12 noon on Saturday 23rd March. We plan to work with a mixture of Council staff, community groups and local schools to carry out the planting.

If you would like to take part, please contact Danielle Begley, Biodiversity Officer on 028 30313100 or e-mail Danielle.begley@newryandmourne.gov.uk
