As part of the Hedgerows Grow West project, Omagh District Council are teaming up with the CKS community and The Conservation Volunteers to offer a FREE training day in hedgerow planting and management.
Come along to the CKS community centre in Omagh on Saturday 15th February 2014 at 10.30am to volunteer your time and muscle power at this one-off outdoor training day led by experts from The Conservation Volunteers. We will start with a practical demonstration and team attempt at planting a new native hedge outside the community centre. During the complimentary lunch, TCV will give an overview of hedges and their history, delighting you with wonderful pictures and handy tips on managing your own native hedge.
This event is part of Omagh District Councils’ project on native hedgerows, Hedgerows Grow West, delivering local action for biodiversity. Hedgerows Grow West is a partnership project across eleven councils in the west of Northern Ireland that aims to restore and enhance hedgerows for the benefit of biodiversity through working with people and passing on vital skills in conservation. This project is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund and Omagh District Council.
To register your intent to volunteer and grab a free lunch, please contact Julie Corry, Omagh Biodiversity Officer on 028 82256202 or email at Julie.corry@omagh.gov.uk.
