We need you to survey your local waterway this summer

Daubenton’s bat in flight

Join us at Unit 8, ARCHES (beside the car park) in Randalstown on Tuesday 18th July at 8pm.

There will be a 1 hour presentation, and a 1 hour discussion of the sites followed by a visit to a local waterway to demonstrate the survey methodology. You can then be part of the All Ireland Daubenton’s  Bat Waterway Survey.

Daubenton’s bats fly close to the water picking up insects from the water and are easy to identify. With a little training, you can identify and count Daubenton’s bats over a waterway near you. If you are willing to spend a couple of evenings walking along a river or canal while participating in important wildlife conservation work then this project is ideal for you!

The training is being delivered by Bat Conservation Ireland and organised in conjunction with Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.
